Combining the “art & science” of advanced dentistry to improve your health.

A different approach to dental care.

Prevention/Diagnostics

Diagnosis is key

Microscope Enhanced Dentistry

We are the first restorative practice in the North Bay to incorporate microscope-enhanced dentristy to provide the highest level of care for our patients.

“We Invite You to Experience the Difference”

Microscopic Enhanced Dentistry enables Dr. Poksay to see microscopic details that are impossible to visualize with either the naked eye or loupes (glasses with magnification in the lenses). He can also take photos, share the information with patients, and receive the information he needs to solve the most delicate challenges. Less than 1% of General Dentists use microscopes to perform their dentistry. Dr. Poksay has mastered the use of this technique over the past 10 years.

The Surgical Operating Microscope gives Dr. Poksay a clear, bright, magnified perspective. This enlarged binocular image allows for a more accurate diagnosis and precise dentistry. Greater visual acuity with the surgical microscope’s wide range of magnification removes a lot of guess work that may take place with “eyes only” dentistry. Many of the fractures and cavities that exist are too difficult to see with the naked eye or even loupes. The microscope strongly aids in spotting the fine dividing line between healthy and unhealthy.

Detecting Cancer

One of the unique services we provide is early cancer detection. Oral cancers account for approximately 8,000 deaths per year in the United States – one every hour of every day.  Early detection is key to optimize patient care and management.  In less than 3 minutes, use of the VELscope enables precancers and cancers to be seen well before they would otherwise be detected. The VELscope is totally noninvasive, used much like a night-vision flashlight.  Dr. Poksay says, “adding VELscope to oral cancer screens will be an invaluable asset to patient care. Even if we only help save one person’s life, it will be wonderful.” http://www.oralcancerfoundation.org/

Diagnosis is Key!

“There can be multiple acceptable ways to treat problems, but only one correct diagnosis!”
